F.A.Q.

Frequently Asked Questions

*These F.A.Qs are intended for individuals considering private advocacy, coaching, or support services.

What is Cancer Advocacy?

Cancer advocacy is about walking beside you through one of the hardest journeys of your life, helping you feel supported, informed, and heard every step of the way.

It’s not just about information or paperwork; it’s about partnership. As your advocate, I help you navigate the complexities of the healthcare system,  explaining medical terms, coordinating with your providers, preparing for appointments, and making sure your questions get answers.

I also help you access the right care, resources, and support, including insurance navigation, emotional guidance, and care coordination, so you can focus on what truly matters: your healing and peace of mind.

Cancer advocacy turns overwhelm into clarity. It ensures you’re not just a patient in the system, but a partner in your own care, with the knowledge, confidence, and support you deserve.

What is Integrative Health Coaching?

Integrative coaching is a holistic approach to healing that blends science-based strategies with the wisdom of the mind-body connection.

It’s about helping you feel whole again, supporting not just your physical recovery, but your emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. Together, we create personalized wellness plans that honor your unique needs and values.

We’ll explore areas like nutrition, rest, stress management, and mindfulness, all aimed at restoring balance and building resilience during and after cancer treatment.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all program. It’s a partnership designed to help you listen to your body, nurture your spirit, and create lasting rhythms of wellness that feel like you.

How is this different from what a social worker or nurse does?

Social workers and nurses are essential parts of the healthcare system, each with specialized roles that focus on clinical care and social support.

Social workers often help patients access community resources, manage practical needs, and offer emotional counseling during difficult times. Nurses provide hands-on medical care, administering treatments, coordinating with providers, and ensuring you understand your health plan and medical needs.

While my nursing background gives me a strong foundation in healthcare, my work as an independent advocate and integrative coach is different. I’m not providing medical care, I’m focused entirely on you: your experience, your voice, and your emotional and spiritual well-being.

I collaborate with your medical team to help you make informed decisions, feel confident in your care, and stay grounded through the ups and downs of your healing journey.

In essence, where healthcare professionals focus on treating illness, I focus on supporting the whole person, helping you build resilience, clarity, and balance as you move toward lasting well-being.

Do you attend medical appointments with clients?

I typically don’t attend in-person provider appointments, but I’m more than happy to join you for virtual visits to offer support, help you navigate the conversation, and ensure your voice is heard.

For in-person appointments, I still provide full support through pre-appointment preparation and post-appointment follow-up. We’ll review your questions ahead of time, go over what to expect, and debrief afterward so you feel confident in your next steps.

Whether your care is virtual or in-person, my goal is always the same, to make sure you feel informed, supported, and empowered every step of the way.

What's the difference between an independent advocate and one from the hospital?

An independent patient advocate works directly for you, not for a hospital, clinic, or insurance company. My only priority is your well-being. I’m here to help you understand your options, communicate clearly with your care team, and make sure your voice is heard throughout your healthcare journey.

A hospital-based advocate, on the other hand, is employed by the hospital and serves as part of that organization’s team. They provide valuable assistance, but their primary responsibility is to help patients navigate that specific hospital’s policies and procedures.

As an independent advocate, I have the freedom to support you across multiple providers and systems. That means you receive unbiased, personalized guidance focused entirely on your needs, whether it’s coordinating care, reviewing treatment plans, or connecting you with trusted resources beyond the hospital walls.

Why choose an Independent Patient Advocate?

Choosing an independent patient advocate means choosing someone who works only for you, not for a hospital, provider, or insurance company. My role is to make sure your voice, needs, and goals are always at the center of your care.

As an independent advocate, I offer personalized and unbiased support that’s fully tailored to your situation. Whether you need help understanding medical language, coordinating care between providers, or navigating insurance obstacles, I’m here as your partner and guide.

Unlike hospital-based advocates, I’m not limited by facility policies or procedures. That means every recommendation, every bit of support, is focused on one thing, you.

My goal is to help you feel informed, confident, and empowered, while receiving care that honors both your medical and emotional well-being.

Do you work with my care team or instead of them?

I work with your care team, never instead of them. My role is to complement and strengthen the support you already receive from your doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers.

Together, we form a collaborative circle of care that centers around you, your needs, values, and well-being.

As an independent advocate, I help bridge communication gaps and make sure everyone on your team is aligned. I’ll help you understand your treatment options, prepare for appointments, and ensure your voice is heard in every decision about your health.

Think of me as your personal guide, the person who keeps your advocacy and emotional wellness at the heart of your care, every step of the way.

Do you offer support for caregivers?

Yes. I offer dedicated support for caregivers, especially women and partners who are walking beside a loved one through cancer or chronic illness.

Caregiving can be emotionally, physically, and spiritually exhausting. You give so much of yourself, and it’s easy to lose sight of your own needs in the process. My role is to help you care for yourself while you care for someone else.

Through our work together, we’ll focus on building resilience, setting healthy boundaries, and creating simple, sustainable ways to support both your loved one and your own well-being.

You don’t have to do this alone, I’m here to help you find balance, strength, and space to breathe again.

What happens after I book the discovery call?

After booking your free Discovery Call, we’ll spend time talking about your needs, challenges, and goals so I can understand how to best support you. Together, we’ll begin to outline a personalized roadmap for your journey and discuss what next steps might look like.

If you decide to move forward, there’s a retainer fee to create your detailed Care Roadmap. That investment is credited toward the package you choose, so it goes directly toward your ongoing support with me.

My goal is for you to leave the call feeling seen, supported, and clear about your options, whether you’re ready to begin right away or simply exploring what’s possible.

Speaking & Education

You might be wondering…

Questions about cost, resources, or next steps are completely normal. Here’s what to know.

How much do your services cost?

Because every client’s needs are unique, pricing varies based on the level of support and time involved. My services range from $125 for single sessions to $3,500 for comprehensive care packages, depending on what’s right for you.

Your Discovery Call is free, and during that conversation, we’ll explore your goals and challenges to determine the kind of support that would serve you best.

If you decide to move forward, there’s a retainer fee to create your personalized Care Roadmap, a detailed plan outlining your next steps and tailored recommendations. That retainer is credited toward your selected package, ensuring your investment goes directly toward your ongoing support and care.

My goal is always to provide transparency, flexibility, and meaningful value, so you can get the support you need without unnecessary stress or surprises.

Why isn't pricing listed on your site?

Because care should be personal, and so should pricing.

Every client’s needs, goals, and circumstances are different, which means the level of support and time involved can vary. While I share starting points for some services to give you a general idea, I don’t publish exact prices because I want our work together to be built around you, not a one-size-fits-all number.

Our first step is a free Discovery Call, where we’ll talk about your situation, what you’re hoping for, and whether we’re a good fit. If it feels aligned, I’ll recommend a plan that matches your needs and explain the investment clearly before you commit.

From there, a retainer fee is collected to create your personalized Care Roadmap, and that amount is credited toward your chosen package, so every dollar goes directly toward your ongoing support.

What does the cost of working with you include?

The cost of working with me reflects a comprehensive, personalized approach designed to meet your unique needs and goals. Every plan is customized, so your care feels both supportive and intentional, never one-size-fits-all.

Depending on your situation, your support may include:

1:1 Advocacy: Personalized help navigating the healthcare system, setting up referrals, preparing for appointments, communicating with providers, and advocating for insurance coverage so you can focus on healing.

Care Coordination: Management of the practical details, from scheduling and tracking treatment plans to following up with your care team, ensuring your care stays organized and seamless.

Integrative Coaching: Holistic guidance for your emotional, mental, and physical well-being. Together, we’ll explore mindset, stress management, and self-care practices that align with your healing journey.

Resource Research: Support in finding helpful resources, from clinical trials and financial assistance programs to complementary therapies and community connections.

Reiki & Energy Healing (optional): Gentle energy work to help reduce stress, ease anxiety, and restore emotional balance.

Emotional Support: Compassionate, ongoing support to help you process the emotional challenges of your diagnosis and find strength through every stage.

Phone or Email Check-ins: Between-session guidance when you need reassurance or clarity, ensuring you always feel supported and confident in your next steps.

Before we begin, we’ll discuss your goals and decide which combination of services fits you best. This way, your care plan is completely personalized, created to meet you where you are, and grow with you as you heal.
